23 February 2006

Cameron Partners, New Zealand’s leading independent investment bank, has appointed ex Wellingtonian, Ross Christie, as a new Director.

Mr Christie joins Cameron Partners from the UK’s largest listed independent investment bank, Close Brothers Corporate Finance where he worked as a senior investment banker for over eight years. Close Brothers is listed on the London Stock Exchange with a market capitalisation of around GBP1.5 billion and has an international M&A network which comprises over 300 professionals in 19 countries across Europe, USA, South Africa and Asia.

Partner Rob Cameron said, "Ross has a wealth of experience in advising both public and private companies and private equity funds, across a range of sectors, which will be invaluable to Cameron Partners and our clients. Ross also brings access to a strong international network which will allow us to enhance our existing international coverage".

"Ross is an accomplished investment banker with over 40 completed transactions to his name in the eight years he was at Close Brothers," Mr Cameron said today.

Mr Christie said, "he was delighted to join one of New Zealand’s most experienced and respected investment banking teams. Cameron Partners has an enviable position in the New Zealand market with its local focus and international connections. I will be able to broaden that international network and leverage the Close Brothers relationship."

In recent years Mr Christie has successfully implemented transactions for clients including LogicaCMG plc, British Energy plc, Bank of England, Global Crossing (USA), Archer Daniels Midland (USA) and international private equity firms such as 3i, Warburg Pincus, Advent International, Apax Partners, Doughty Hanson, Bridgepoint and Lloyds Development Capital.

On completion of his Bachelor of Commerce and Administration degree at Victoria University, Mr Christie started his career at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu in Wellington, before being transferred to its London office and subsequently joining Close Brothers.

Cameron Partners celebrated its first 10 years in business in 2005, with the achievement of third place in Thomson Financial Merger and Acquisition league tables for 2005 with 10 key announced transactions worth a total of $5.5 billion.

Already in 2006, Cameron Partners has been appointed advisor to Contact Energy on its $8 billion merger proposal with Origin Energy of Australia and has been appointed to advise Weyerhauser on the sale of its Nelson Forests assets.
